Today’s companies are keen to engage their workforce in productive learning so that they are adept enough to face both challenges and opportunities alike. In this era of cut-throat competition the companies want to leave no stone unturned when it comes to preparing a skilled workforce who can learn and apply those new skills but the trick lies in structuring concise and compact training programs which will be able to bring that big impact from short training. Blended learning approaches are the need of the hour and motley of training delivery methods are quickly gaining importance across the globe with the learning paradigm shifting at a faster pace. Micro-learning or bite sized learning is a learning method which is emerging fast and is being lapped up by companies to close the knowledge gaps while breaking information into smaller chunks without cramming knowledge. Mobile Learning is gaining prominence with the advent of latest technology and online training tools where learners can access learning materials via mobile devices including smart phones and tablets, PCs and laptops. It offers great flexibility and freedom as the learners can choose when to access content, podcasts or videos resulting in greater engagement and better retention. Gamification can create immersive learning experience and has proven to be an efficacious technique to involve learners. Game mechanics are used to design the learning module. Challenge, reward, engagement and social elements are incorporated in gamification which provides participants with immediate feedback, ranking and performance dashboards which are easily discernible while tracking intelligible progression paths. Interval Reinforcement is an advantageous method to identify knowledge gaps where the participants are fed correct, bite-size answers to refresh major learning points and are re-tested and asked to provide new answers and new information to ensure the learning sticks. Confidence-based learning is especially applicable in areas like safety where employees need confidence to perform their tasks with confidence and in this type of learning the confidence level of participants is rated on the basis of confidence in the correctness of their answers emphasizing not only the knowledge but the confidence in knowledge shared.
