The year ahead 2015

2nd January 2015

With 2015 just around the corner, I have been pondering over what sort of resolutions I want to make as a business owner. I started to reflect upon what we’ve learned in the past eleven months as December neared which seemed to be the appropriate time which actually got me thinking about how to make even better choices in this New Year. After a string of parties, holidays and studies, I try to squeeze out some time to reflect while I ensconce with my thoughts and try to find solace in them. It began with the listing of what went well in 2014 and what can be improved upon. Maybe you attempted a new marketing tactic that worked especially well — do more of that in 2015. Maybe you partnered with someone new which did not exactly deliver fruitful results — now you know what to look for in a partnership.   Aftera good amount of reflection, I jot down a list of resolutions aimed for 2015. This is what is on my list, and what every entrepreneur will be considering as they step into 2015: Be bold with your marketing strategies and watch your business grow:   If you are feeling stagnated in your business and groping for just the right path, look out for new customers and stick to your partners. As a business person, I have made a realization with every passing year that partner relationships are a huge key in running a successful business. No matter how small in scale the partnership is, it can reap huge benefits for your as well as their business. Even if the two partners simply swap blog posts once a month, their businesses are introduced to entirely new audiences that might not have been possible otherwise.   Marketing is constantly evolving and all you entrepreneurs have to take that one step further by thinking outside the box and adapt those innovative strategies to business until you hit the bull’s eye. But there is no best formula as such as it is constantly changing. Recently we’ve been experimenting more with things like paid Facebook advertising and trying different press release distribution options. We’re starting to figure out what really works for us in terms of getting clicks at the lowest possible cost. But I’ve realized that you have to experiment and throw some money around to find a good fit.   Keep it Simple & Discard the SMART Goals:   Both professional and personal lives seem to work best if it is less complicated. Many cost-cutting ideas work beautifully if "keeping it simple" is the primary consideration. Goal setting can be boring and it is a wise thing to discard all those insipid goals. SMART goals hardly make an impact and leave your mind even before January is over. Rather resort to crystal clear vision and power your possibilities accordingly for 2015. Hook up with your purpose and passion. Follow these 3 steps to design a crystal clear vision: 1. Choose a BIG challenge 2. Personalize it 3. Create an emotional story as you inch towards achieving your vision.   Make 2015 your best year EVER!
